SandusksceneS
by Charles Rice Goff III
1 Newcolor Bomb
2 Euclid's Domesticity
3 Kauffman Stadium
4 Mantis Meal
5 Trip To The Fair
6 Unnatural Selections
The six video presentations in this collection were produced by Charles Rice Goff III in Kansas City, Kansas, USA, in the summer and autumn of 2008. They were compiled together and released by Taped Rugs Productions on a DVDR entitled: "SandusksceneS" later in 2008. Goff is personally responsible for all photography, videography, video editing, and video effects. He also is responsible for the performing, recording, and producing of all of the soundtracks (except for "Newcolor Bomb", soundtrack by Goff/Dave Woycechowsky).
In 2009, Rotcod Zzaj of the review site: "Improvijazzation Nation" commented on the production thusly:
OK, Goff - there's no doubt about it - you've gone FAR TOO FAR this time... the descendants of Herbert (Hoover) have got you in their sights this time, no doubt... cruelty to MANtis'... on "Mantis Meal", you pretend to be playing nursery rhymes (albeit for Karloff films) and introduce our youngsters to cannibalistic scenes of one bug being eaten by the other.... pretty good parody of politicians, I thought, but entirely too graphic for malleable minds - oh, I see, that was the whole idea... make the IPOD gen-x-ers squirm with a dose of visual cruelty... ha! ha! ha! That "Trip To The Fair" gives a pretty good perspective on all us turkeys tied up in knots over the whirligig state of the economy, along with a snatch or 2 of "Animal Farm". Exit experiments in homemade sonic wonder that may not win a Grammy, but will have Granny in stitches as she watches. Excellent quality DVD for those not afraid to tackle the "same old scenes" you'd find in that town in Ohio with some new interpretations from Mr. Goff. I rate it as MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, to be sure!
Some Specifics:
1 Newcolor Bomb:
Psycho Anim Bomb Of Primary Colors: Crudely Fauvist, Roughly Cubist, Blurry Abstractionist, Modernly Expressionist. Soundtrack: "The Tumult" By Farces Wanna Mo, from the CD: CALM BLUE OCEAN (c 2006). This short film was created for the Farces Wanna Mo documentary about CALM BLUE OCEAN, produced by Dave Woycechowsky.
2 Euclid's Domesticity:
An adventure in real estate, geometry, multitasking, and synesthesia. Houses, gardens, and neighborhoods blend into one melange of sonically shaded shadows, parallels and perpendiculars. All video shot in Kansas City. Soundtrack features Hello Kitty Stratocaster, Micro Moog, Effects, and Tapes.
3 Kauffman Stadium:
A collage of baseball imagery featuring the Oakland Athletics and Kansas City Royals from the 9/4/08 doubleheader at Kauffman Stadium. As it turned out, this was the last full game for Mike Sweeney as an Oakland Athletic. Dadaesque interpretations of "Take Me Out To The Ballpark" provide a sonic accompaniment to this artsy view of baseball.
4 Mantis Meal:
A Praying Mantis enjoys his late afternoon Katydid dinner on a fence in Kansas City, Kansas. Some tiny gnats join in for a few tasty licks.
5 Trip To The Fair:
Tripping was popular back in the 1960's, as we all know. This is a documentation of a trip to the Douglas County, Kansas, Fair, taken on August 2nd, 2007. Filmed in Lawrence, Kansas.
6 Unnatural Selections:
An adventure in interpretation, featuring the biology and physics of northeastern Kansas, a number of carefully plotted video effects, and an original, somewhat psychedelic, soundtrack. This crazy piece of Dada surreal expressionist schpunk has been recently featured in the Kansas City Film Fest / KC Jubilee Film fest and in the Harvest Of Art Film Festival of Lawrence, Kansas.
